About

Mavens’ Haven in Lucile, Idaho offers classes, retreats and botanical forays in support of herbal medicine, healthy and local cuisine, wilderness and homesteading skills, ethical sustainability, holistic health, humanities, and contemplative practices.

Flanked by National Forests and Wilderness Areas, the Haven is nestled on the banks of the Salmon River about seven miles from Riggins, a popular rafting and fishing destination.

The Mavens' Haven

Mavens’ Haven was founded by Master Herbalist Darcy Williamson, who has been offering classes, retreats, and forays from her studio in McCall, Idaho for years.  Every Wednesday her studio welcomes apprentices who learn how to find and ethically harvest wild plants and create medicinal preparations.  Williamson wanted to provide apprentices and guests an alternative location to the high mountain atmosphere of McCall.  The Salmon River terrain is a markedly different ecosystem, generally about twenty degrees warmer.

Mavens’ Haven affords guests a beautiful location to learn, rest and rebuild.  The main house and deck offer a stunning view of the river.  There are expansive vegetable gardens, fruit trees, tumbling pigeons, bee hives, a chicken coop, grape arbor, wood-fired sauna, koi pond, swimming hole and beach, pickle-ball court, fire pit and a Hecate Labyrinth.

  1. Hello, I am staying in the area from July 15th thru the 20th and was wondering if your are offering any classes at that time. Also, is your place a destination for breakfast, lunch or dinner?

    • Hi Gary~

      Gary~
Thank you for the inquiry, and apologies for a belated reply. We avoid offering classes in July since it is the height of summer, which means harvesting, visitors, other events, and long, happy days outside. We are not a destination for unplanned meals, although many people seem to think so! Please just stop by, especially on a Friday through Sunday when the Trading Post is open. You’ll see signs, and if you offer to weed a row, you’ll be sure to get some apricots or greens!
      Cheers~
Renee (best to email me directly since clearly my settings are off–reneeomrama@gmail.com)
